Light and Landscape
Paintings of the 19th and 20th century from the collection
No later than the early-19th century, Lake Starnberg attracted artists with its pristine beauty. They depicted its unspoiled landscapes before it became a retreat for affluent citizens and holidaymakers. It was these artists who first immortalized the lake, its shores, surrounding hills, and distant mountains in the annals of art.
The exhibition showcases pieces from our own collection dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries. It represents artists who either resided by the lake or were regular visitors, all inspired by Starnberg’s captivating charm.
