The Museum as Atelier

How can a museum be of genuine use to society?
How can it foster encounter and exchange, shape community, offer a sense of belonging and perhaps even provide solace?
Perhaps by being not only a place of knowledge, of the past and of the finished, but also a space of possibility, of growth and of making.

The artists Ergül Cengiz, Gretta Louw, Anna Schölß and Esther Zahel are using the Museum Starnberger See as their atelier. Visitors are invited to take part in an ever-changing space for play, creativity, encounter, reflection or simply for being and feeling at ease. With all their senses and in one another's company, visitors become participants. Children, young people, adults, families: all those who come are welcome to look, to smell, to feel – and to carry things further, begin anew or expand upon what they find. The nature of this exhibition is its transformation.
