Transportation

The museum can easily be reached by public transport.

Bus and train

There are local and regional trains from Munich to Starnberg (See) railway station. The journey time is 20 to 30 minutes. The museum is three minutes’ walk away from the station alongside Lake Starnberg. Alternatively, the 964 bus stops right outside the museum.

Car

Follow the signs to Starnberg (See) railway station and from there the signs to the museum. Parking is available between Bahnhofplatz (the main road outside the station) and the museum. Two disabled parking spaces are available in front of the museum on Possenhofener Strasse. More information about parking is available here.

Coaches

Coaches can use the drop-off point outside the museum. There are designated parking spaces for coaches at Starnberger (See) railway station.

Accessibility

Visitors with access needs should use the entrance on Possenhofener Strasse. In the new building, all the exhibition galleries and other rooms open to visitors are accessible via the elevator. An accessible toilet is available in the museum and the café. There are parking spaces for disabled visitors outside the museum. Please note that due to its historical nature, accessibility in Lochmann House is unfortunately limited.

A hearing loop is available for all guided tours and talks. Several folding chairs are always available for use in the exhibition galleries, which can also be used as walking aids. Guide dogs and assistance dogs can be taken into the exhibition rooms, but please present certification. If you have any further questions, contact the visitor service team.
