A museum needs friends 

We, the members of the Friends' Association, support the Lake Starnberg Museum ideologically, financially, and with personal commitment.

Our goal: to preserve the museum as a living place of history and the present, to live it as an open space for social exchange, and to strengthen it as a connection between home and the world for future generations. Because a museum is more than just a building with exhibits inside—it is a place of encounter, learning, inspiration, and, above all, relaxation and enjoyment. That's why we are the Friends!

We support the museum by, among other things:
- Promoting exhibitions, projects, and publications
- Purchasing objects for the collection
- Supporting outreach and educational programs
- Anchoring the museum in the urban community, the region, and far beyond

We live our connection to the museum through:
- Free admission to all museum exhibitions
- Events, lectures, and excursions
- Exchange with the museum team and insights “behind the scenes”
- Community, friendship, and lively celebrations

Outstanding commitment

Our commitment was honored with the Tassilo Prize.
On November 26, 2025, the Friends of Lake Starnberg Museum received the Tassilo Prize from the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper—a special recognition for civic engagement and sustainable cultural promotion. This award encourages us to continue on our path and boldly tackle new projects.
